Hardware requirements for
Modsim online course
- CPU & Memory
- Required:
A PC based on a x86 platform with minimum 8 MBytes RAM.
- Recommended: A Pentium 75 MHz CPU or
better
- Recommended: 16 MBytes RAM or more

- Monitor and Video
- Required:
Color monitor that can display a screen with at least 800 by
600 pixels, and 256 colors.
- Recommended: Monitor that can display
a screen with 1024 by 768 pixels and High Color (16 bit).
- Required: Video card that can output
a screen with at least 800 by 600 pixels and 256 colors.
- Recommended: Video card that can output
a screen with 1024 by 768 pixels and High Color (16 bit).

- Sound Card
- Recommended: Although not strictly
necessary, some of the Power Point type presentations in the
course contain narration. If your computer is equipped with a
sound card, it will be helpful.
- Networking
- Required:
Modem/Ethernet Card. Of course, you will need to be able to dial
out to your ISP, or be connected to LAN to have access to the
internet. If you are going to be using a modem, it is recommended
that you use a 28.8 Kbps modem or better, although a 14.4 Kbps
modem may suffice.
- Hard Disk Space
- At this time it is not possible to
make an accurate estimate of the required disk space, but a ball
park figure would be around 50 MBytes for MODSIM and the course
notes.
